Ideally, a writer only writes when there is something worthwhile to say. At least, I like to think so. Writing for the sake of filling space perpetuates a fraud upon the honest reader, who may find him or herself having been sucked into a waste of their time. I wonder if this might be a common cause of writer’s block. The honest writer gets an idea into their head, but then a small voice tells them: “no, that’s not worth writing about.” And boom, the writer is stalled out.

Sometimes, you just have to trust that what you have to offer the world is going to be worthwhile to someone, and push forward, with whatever the idea may be.
